Vivienne Westwood’s latest Couture and Bridal collections will be presented at the premium-wedding event “The Luxury Wedding Show London”, hosted at the Saatchi Gallery on 22-23 October 2011. (via Stylist Magazine)

I am not planning on getting married any time soon, but I am now very tempted to attend the show just to see all the beautiful gowns in the flesh (fiber?). I will also admit to regularly thinking I’d like my wedding dress to be a Vivienne Westwood Gold Label dress like this—beautiful—one:

Why Hello, Annie Greenabelle

I’d never heard of Annie Greenabelle until just an hour ago, but she’s already made her way to my heart with these two dresses. Simple and feminine, all you have to do is add a pair of flip flops or some chunky wedges and you’re good to go.

July Challenge of the Month – Look 3

Cute Feminine Casual Summer Look by Clothes, Clothes, Clothes! Challenge of the Month

There is a lot going on with this pair of shorts – big pockets, turned up hems, stripes, and a big bow! – so I chose to go for simple pieces to compliment it. There was also the issue of it being described as Mint Ticking Bow Stripe Shorts on the Miss Selfridge website – surely “mint” means green, but they look pretty grey to me! So just to be on the safe side, I chose a colour palette that would flatter either colour.

I started by adding a simple white vest but to keep things interesting, chose one with some subtle embellishment – the macrame detailing teamed with the braided straps of the gladiator sandals help create a bit of a relaxed bohemian feel, and so I decided to push it a little further by adding accessories that clearly take their inspiration from India. The result is a cute, feminine, casual summer look that will look great against a tan.

Exotic Jet Set St Tropez Look by Clothes Clothes Clothes! Challenge of the Month

So much can be done with Denim Jeans Shorts – they are really versatile and should be a staple in everyone’s summer wardrobe. I chose to dress them up for effortless summer chic with exotic pieces and a pair of gorgeous strapped sandals (which I looove). Can’t you picture yourself wearing this drinking cocktails in a little Riviera café?

How To Wear Houndstooth

How to wear Houndstooth - Houndstooth dress and bag by JaegerYes, I know, this is not a Spring/Summer post. It’s been raining a lot and the weather has gone back to cold, so I feel like this is more appropriate. Anyway, moving on…Houndstooth is a great classic print, but it can quite easily make a look dated, especially if it is teamed with tweed or wool. So if you want to avoid this, yet  take advantage of the print’s instant chic appeal, I recommend you look for a modern take on the working wardrobe staple—be it with a slightly altered print or new colours and textures.

For example, these pieces from Jaeger have got it all right. The dress is not only red and white instead of the traditional white and black, but it also made of silk, and the pattern is slightly altered.  It looks feminine, chic, modern and professional.

This bag works because it’s in shiny PVC. I’m always a fan of printed accessories—they make a simple outfit instantly look chic. And this bag would look great with a black dress and houndstooth-print shoes.

Coral and White Houndstooth Silk Dress by Jaeger £225 now £149

The bag isn’t available online anymore, but you might be lucky if you visit one of the many Jaeger stores.

Oscar Dresses Post

Demi Moore in Atelier Versace at the Oscars

There were so many gorgeous dresses at this year’s Oscars that I had a hard time keeping the number of dresses featured in the post to a minimum.

My favourite is the lovely Atelier Versace number Demi Moore wore—absolute perfection. Sadly its colour is a bit too similar to Demi’s tan, but it is so lovely that I am willing to overlook a few styling mistakes.

Oscars Dresses 2010 Miley Cyrus Jenny Packham Gabourey Sidibe Marchesa Elizabeth Banks Versace

Miley Cyrus, Gabourey Sidibe and Elizabeth Banks all dazzled on the red carpet—respectively in Jenny Packham, Marchesa and Atelier Versace. All these gowns tie in second position for their luxurious detailing and flattering cuts.

Oscars Dresses 2010 Queen Latifah Badgley Mischka Meryl Streep Chris March Helen Mirren Badgley Mischka

Finally, Meryl Streep (in Chris March), Queen Latifah and Helen Mirren (both in Badgley Mischka) all looked really chic. Their simple and tasteful frocks were age-appropriate yet stylish and elegant.

I went to a very pleasant Karen Millen event last night. It was the perfect occasion to check out the new collection while nibbling on canapés and drinking champagne. There were many lovely pieces but what really stood out to me were the bags and shoes. I’m a big fan of leopard print (as long as it’s done right!) and I really like this fresh and elegant version. I think the gladiators are gorgeous, but I don’t think I’d be able to walk in them! The monochrome bag and shoes are perfect for understated chic and will you please have a look at this gorgeous bow detail:
