With these lovely cream retro polka dot bow shorts, it would have been easy to create a cute pinup look with just a black or red top. Today, I chose to team it with a slightly unexpected colour – a light purple. The top is silk and its ruffles add a soft, feminine touch. I then added a pair of adorable vintage-inspired peacock earrings, a soft, slouchy black bag, and a pair of retro-inspired pumps, in pink for a splash of colour.
After finding this amazing wood necklace, I chose to go for a bohemian hippie summer look using the denim floral print bow shorts. The bag is also a very strong piece that you could use again and again, for many different looks. The top is yellow to celebrate summer, but anything khaki, cream or light red would work too.
I am a huge fan of Accessorize/Monsoon and have always been frustrated that their sales were never available online. Well that has changed and I am beyond excited.
Accessorize has just added further reductions to its sale. If there’s one thing Accessorize does well, it’s pretty exotic flower prints, and if I were you, I’d quickly get my hands on these bikini and bag:

There is a lot going on with this pair of shorts – big pockets, turned up hems, stripes, and a big bow! – so I chose to go for simple pieces to compliment it. There was also the issue of it being described as Mint Ticking Bow Stripe Shorts on the Miss Selfridge website – surely “mint” means green, but they look pretty grey to me! So just to be on the safe side, I chose a colour palette that would flatter either colour.
I started by adding a simple white vest but to keep things interesting, chose one with some subtle embellishment – the macrame detailing teamed with the braided straps of the gladiator sandals help create a bit of a relaxed bohemian feel, and so I decided to push it a little further by adding accessories that clearly take their inspiration from India. The result is a cute, feminine, casual summer look that will look great against a tan.
So much can be done with Denim Jeans Shorts – they are really versatile and should be a staple in everyone’s summer wardrobe. I chose to dress them up for effortless summer chic with exotic pieces and a pair of gorgeous strapped sandals (which I looove). Can’t you picture yourself wearing this drinking cocktails in a little Riviera café?
