I had a look in Topshop earlier today and was pleased to see that their current collection features a lot of polka dots. My favourite piece was this jacket, which will look great teamed with an on-trend oversized clutch and tailored blue jeans or charcoal tapered trousers.
With these lovely cream retro polka dot bow shorts, it would have been easy to create a cute pinup look with just a black or red top. Today, I chose to team it with a slightly unexpected colour – a light purple. The top is silk and its ruffles add a soft, feminine touch. I then added a pair of adorable vintage-inspired peacock earrings, a soft, slouchy black bag, and a pair of retro-inspired pumps, in pink for a splash of colour.
Please excuse the terrible pun, but I couldn’t help myself after all the ooh-ing and aah-ing sounds I made looking at Miss Selfridges’ excellent range of shorts. There’s a little bit of everything from denim hotpants to retro high-waisted shorts in a wide range of colours and prints – animal, polka dots, flowers, stripes. And lots and lots of bows! So whether you want to rock a retro pin-up look or tap into nautical, utility or rock chick trends, I’d recommend you take a look at the following little numbers.
Last week I went to Westfield’s ‘The Greatest Fashion Show on Earth’ in West London. While it might not have been the greatest fashion show on earth—not that I was expecting it to be—it was still a very good one. Everything was really well-orchestrated from the lighting to the music, and I loved the styling.
Westfield has just uploaded some pictures from the event, so I can now share my favourite looks from the show with you:
Love, love, love this outfit so much. Pairing a bright blue silk evening top with cotton skirt in muted tones is unusual and just shows that sometimes you just have to take risks. Top ted baker £99 Skirt & belt Zara £29.99
I know I have said before that I don’t like jumpsuits, but this one really stood out on the runway. I think it might be because it looks more like a top and trousers than an actual jumpsuit. DKNY £191
I don’t usually like the creations from the Miller sisters, but this playsuit is lovely. Twenty8Twelve £245
